At the recent AGM, the club formally passed it thanks to Andrew McVeigh who has stepped down from the club committee after many years. Andrew has been on the club committee for 13 years, 11 of those as President, and has many achievements to his name during this time. These include leading the club through two difficult COVID seasons, overseeing the rebuild of the facilities at Centenary Park, with the new pavilion opening in

2017 and then the upgrading of Blair Park facilities in 2019. Despite a growth in football clubs in the area, player and team numbers have remained stable during this time and the

club has a strong financial position following his tenure. The contribution to the club was somewhat of a family affair including Trina McVeigh, who has been a stalwart of the club canteen over recent years and his daughter Amelia, who has also been involved. We should not forget the dogs in the McVeigh family who have been regulars around the grounds too.
Andrew was also recognised by Football Canterbury with the Vince and Val Laws medal in

2022 and a Football NSW State award in the same year as well as receiving the Cec Barlow Award prior to this. Andrew was also recognised with a Life membership to the Club.

Andrew’s contributions to the club were not limited to his role on the committee, in 2009 he managed an over-50s Burwood team who won gold medal in the World Masters.
At the AGM Andrew’s dedication and tireless effort over the years were acknowledged and this sets a high bar for future President’s leading the club.
On behalf of numerous Committee members, hundreds of teams and thousands of players who have benefited from Andrew's efforts we would once again like to thank Andrew for his contribution to Burwood Football Club, we look forward to seeing him around the grounds again soon.

It’s always meaningful to see recognition being given when someone has contributed significantly to a local club, and Andrew McVeigh’s impact at Burwood Football Club clearly left a strong foundation both on and off the field. Transitions like this often shape the future direction of community football more than people realize, especially in terms of culture and development pathways for younger players. I’ve seen similar discussions in sports communities where people also talk about broader digital engagement in football culture, including platforms like https://luckycoin-au.com/, as part of how fans stay connected to the game beyond weekends. It really highlights how modern football environments extend far beyond the club itself. What do you think is the most important legacy a club…
I went through a period when I was constantly changing sites because none of them were completely satisfactory. Every one had some minor flaws that, over time, became really annoying. So I decided to take my time and try something new more deliberately. That's how I stumbled upon https://olympia-aus.com/. It turned out to be much more pleasant to use than many other options. Now I sometimes go back there when I just want to relax.
Recognizing people like Andrew McVeigh keeps the football community strong. Volunteers are the backbone of local clubs. While they support on the ground, you can stay connected online at https://casinonicau.net/, where football fun never stops.
Thanks for everything Andrew!! Enjoy the free weekends :)
